Thigh Lift

A thigh lift (thigh lift) is an invasive cosmetic surgery that removes excess skin and fat from the thigh area. Perhaps the most common reason for thigh lift surgery is to help reshape and smooth the thigh area after weight loss. Some people also opt for the procedure to gain more shape and feel more comfortable wearing swimsuits, shorts, and jeans. If you’re considering this procedure after losing weight, doctors recommend keeping a steady weight for at least 6 months and you’ve already reached your goal weight. This is because weight fluctuations can affect the results after thigh lift surgery.

Why should it be done?

This operation is performed to eliminate the loosening and sagging problem caused by excessive weight loss or aging in the thigh region of the body.

What are the different types of thigh lifts?

Thigh lift surgeries remove excess skin and fat, but there are different types that are obtained with different incisions.

Inner (medial) thigh lift

The most common form of this plastic surgery is medial thigh lift. It addresses sagging skin on your inner thighs with an incision from your groin to your knee or to the back of your thigh.

Mini thigh lift

Depending on your personal needs, your surgeon can determine if you are suitable for a mini thigh lift. This procedure requires fewer incisions than other types of thigh lifts, it only involves an incision in your groin area. It only works if you want to focus on the upper-inner thighs.

External (bilateral) thigh lift

The outer thigh lift is aimed at the outer parts of your thighs. The procedure involves an incision that starts in your groin area, then extends to your hips and lower back.

Vertical thigh lift

If you want to remove a lot of excess skin from all areas of your thighs, you may want to consider a vertical thigh lift. It requires larger incisions that go all the way up to your knees. However, your surgeon may not recommend this type of thigh lift because of the higher risk of complications.

Lifting with Liposuction

In some cases, the thigh area may have poor skin elasticity. Your surgeon may recommend liposuction in addition to thigh lift surgery to help remove excess fat cells and prevent sagging skin.

Result

In general, you will need several weeks to recover from thigh lift surgery, so you should plan your work schedule accordingly. You should also avoid heavy lifting and strenuous exercise for at least 6 weeks after your procedure. During this time you will want to raise your legs as high as possible and after a few days you can go outside. It is normal for ankles to swell as you move slowly. After healing, you may have scars where your surgeon made the incision to remove excess skin around your thighs. However, when performed by an experienced surgeon, scars should not be too noticeable to others, especially if they are located in inconspicuous areas.
